1. Choose A Strong Password

2. Verify Your Mobile Number And Mail

In cases where you now forget your password, your mobile number and email is a recovery measures put in place to help you access your account. This number must belong to you and not a public phone or shared mailbox. When do you add your email address to the recovery panel when you request a change of password after clicking forgot password? You will be notified on any activity on your account

To add your mobile number, go to Account Settings > Mobile and click on Add a Phone.

3. Activate ‘Login Approvals’ For Your Account 

 

Facebook provides a more extensive security tool called login approvals. Every time you attempt to access your Facebook account from a device that isn’t recognized, a security code must be entered. Go to Account Settings > Security, find Login Approvals, and click the Edit option to make Login Approvals active.

Select the check box to turn on Login Approvals when the option to do so appears.

Click the “Set Up Now” button when a pop-up window with descriptions of login approvals appears to proceed.

Facebook will automatically SMS you a code if your cellphone number is already saved. Click Submit Code after entering this code in the provided box.

You can click Next to proceed now that the Login Approvals request has been completed.

Facebook will then give you the option to set up a Code Generator from your mobile device. If you are unable to receive SMS messages, this would be helpful. Then click Next. You can Also Use The Code generators Provided By Facebook.

4. Activate Secure Browsing

 

Turning on Secure browsing is another option to ensure the security of your Facebook browsing. This instantly stops any third-party apps that are connected with Facebook from misusing your data or stealing it without your knowledge or consent.

Go to Account Settings by selecting it from the drop-down menu in the top right corner of your Facebook account.

Choose “Security” from the menu on the left.

Click the Edit link to the right of the Secure Browsing section.

Check the “Browse Facebook on a secure connection” box when the option panel displays, then press the “Save Changes” button.

5. Always  Disconnect All Previous Active Sessions

Until you log out from your current device or system, there is always a cache of your previous session as long as you spend time on it. Even when you quit the browser without logging out your sessions are still active on that device.

Facebook’s ability to tell you about previous active sessions, your login location, and the devices you used to access your account is a plus. Now, from the Account Settings > Security page, search for “Active Sessions” and click Edit to ensure the security of your account.

To end the sessions on all other devices, click on the link labelled “End Activity.”

6. Activate Private Browsing

Another way to prevent another person from accessing your account is by activating ‘Private Browsing’ from your browsers. All browsers have this feature, which prevents them from logging your browsing history.

For Safari User
If you are using the Safari Browser on Mac, activate Private Browsing from the menu with Safari > Private Browsing.

Firefox Users
For Firefox, go to Tools > Start Private Browsing.

For Chrome Users
If you are using Chrome, you can browse privately in the Incognito window. To open this window, go to File > New Incognito Window.

7. Don’t Allow ‘Keep Me Logged In’ Feature

Don’t click on this feature when you see it on your log-in page, especially on a device that is not private.

There is a little checkbox that says Keep me logged in when you go to the login page to access your Facebook account. Ensure that this box is not ticked. Log in next as normal. When you launch Facebook with this turned on, you will be prompted for your email address and password.

8. Do Not Click On Spammy Links From Untrusted Emails

Facebook takes seriously its responsibility to shield its users from spam and frequently improves its tools to ensure you do not fall prey to it. These requests can come in the shape of Facebook messages, chat requests, phishing links that take you to phony websites, or dangerous links that could steal your personal data or even damage your machine. 9. Always Sign out After Use

Always sign out of your account and confirm the signing out was successful before leaving the page. In some cases, it is advisable to clear the browser cache for further safety measures.
